Over 200 volunteers make what we do possible. Each school has loving individuals who identify the children who need food, pick up food from their local Grocery Outlet Bargain Market , manage storage and fill backpacks each week! Our five Board members keep us on track and a long list of Partners provide the funding that buys the food.
Our roots go back to our first food drive at Mountain Park Church. We served 25 students at Sitton Elementary after learning there were children stuffing tater-tots in their pockets from their school lunch, so they would have food to eat over the weekend! As of April 2019 we are active in 46 schools and over 1,900 children receiving food. It is our belief that we were "called" to do this work and that God provides all we receive.
We strive to continually raise the awareness, that for a wide variety of reasons, hundreds of children in our communities do not have an adequate supply of food. Our goal is to serve as many of them as we can. We have created a low cost efficient way to insure they have weekend nourishment during the school year. Over 97% of our funding is used to purchase food. We know we cannot change the world but we do know we are a world of change to the children we serve.
Donations are multiplied as others see the work TAI is doing and begin to help feed children. At the same time 97% of what is donated is used to buy food. Take Action INC is an all volunteer non-profit.
